I smoked occassionally throughout my first pregnancy. I had him at 30 weeks and he has cerebral palsy. I blame myself for the cigarette I smoked every now and then that was enough reason to quit. Luckily you have made it to 31 weeks but you are not mentally ready enough to quit. And the gradual method is an excuse if people can go from smoking a pack a day to one or two then there's no reason they can't quit completely.

I do not condone smoking while pregnant at all I was a very heavy smoker both weed and cigs for years before I found out I was pregnant as soon as that test came out positive I quit it all for the health and well being of my child. I know its not easy I have a mental battle with myself at least 3 times a week like oh its just one puff or it will just be one cig so I find a quiet place and I pray REALLY hard for myself to not fall into the cravings and temptaions I'm 28+6 and it has worked so far :) you have tried at least and cut back a lot MAD PROPS to you good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and I hope you have a happy healthy baby

Society has this horrible way of judging people who smoke and making them feel guilty. Im 18 weeks and have cut down to 2 a day. I wanted to quit cold turkey and my doc got really upset with me about that. Wean ur self down and do the best u can he said, quitting cold turkey can shock ur body and thats not good at all. No one is perfect and keep ur stress down. My mom smoked heavily with me and im a young successful smart human being. Dont feel guilty if you've been trying. You're doing your best :)

Weed isn't addictive.. just keep yourself busy.. and don't tempt yourself by being around it. I stopped smoking it too and I was smoking throughout the entire day as well. I'm sure its much better to give up weed then give up your baby!

I was where you are. I got down to 1 or 2 a day and that's all I could do. My doc said that's better than nothing and said he was proud. It was hard and I just quit in early October on my own and now I'm pregnant with number 2. My family was down my throat my entire last pregnancu about it which just made quitting harder. Good luck!

I'm 13w1d so I'm not quite to where you are but I've been smoking for about 5 years. Everyone tells me to quit smoking and makes me feel bad about it. I only smoke a few a day now though. The smell makes me sick too. I actually had an emotional break down kind of thing last night because I wanted a cig so bad, but I didn't wana feel sick or smell it lol. Anyway, I know a lot of women who smoke the entire time they carry and the baby turned out perfectly fine. I'm sorry you feel crappy about it, but keep your head up! You're already in the last stretch. Congratulations and good luck!

i was a smoker for 5 years and i quit when  i was about 3 months along. dont get me wrong i still crave it all the time even tho most the time the smell is disgusting and makes me nauseous. But i quit becasue i felt terrible that i didnt smoke when i was pregnant with my other two and this baby didnt deserve it either! and the obvious its bad for baby....but my best friend smoked her whole pregnancy and her baby was fine....i know its hard at least you cut wayyyy down!
