Im planning on breastfeeding and formula feeding, my question is: Do u apply for WIC before or after baby is born. Im due 3-16-13, and live in TEXAS

Why do you want to formula feed and breastfeed? If you can, only breastfeed. It is the best thing for your baby. If it doesn't work out for, the day you apply for WIC is the day you'll get formula. Take advantage of applying now. You'll get other stuff up until your child is 5, that is if that WIC program allows you.

Apply now! I'm 27+5 and I'm on Wic. When your pregnant, they'll give you food and milk, juice, fruit, etc. and when the baby Is born they'll give you checks for formula and an electric breast pump for breast feeding. At least here In Az. they do, might be a tad different where you live. But defiantly apply for It right away!!!!

I just signed up for WIC and I'm in California, and I don't plan to formula feed but they told me at the orientation meeting thing that they don't give you formula til the baby's about a month old because they really encourage ready feeding. But it doesn't hurt to sign up now, so it's not a hassle later.

Id apply now like u i din want all the extras but she let me choose watt i wanted like i just got 1gallon of milk, cheese, n a $10 fruit n veggie  voucher i din need pnut butter or bread or beans or rice or tuna nthn like that i as well formula feed n breast feed n just needed it for formula also u can have baby pedi sign off on some forms to have enfamil  nstead of similac  n here in Ohio even though i do both i still get 12bottles of already prepared formula for like someone who doesn't breastfeed

Apply now, and my suggestion, if you plan to formula and breast feed or only breast feed for a short time your better off telling then you are just formula feeding so they give you more (you can stock up) and I even pushed to get them to give me the nursery water from the store cause I lived in the county and didn't like the water

Im nyc when the baby is born they dont need blood so when you give birth you just ask the doc that deliver the  baby to fill out the application and you can go straight to wic

I would apply now, that way when the baby comes it will be a lot easier and quicker of you're already on the program.

Apply now, I applied when I found out I was pregnant and we started getting WIC immediately I'm now 6 months pregnant..it a big help :)

Now i like in plano texas they will give you food now threw your postpartum period and baby as well. Like right now youll get milk eggs cheese bread beans juice cereal and vegies.

Apply now because you get good benefits still.. They will give you coupons for certain stuff and then once baby is there the formula/food starts
