forceps or vacuum?

Im currently looking online and found a template for birthing plan. Now wondering if it ever came down to it andbi needed assistance with the baby, which one is better: forceps or vacuum? They both creep me out really. I dont think i like the idea of forceps though....but then again i dont know what a vacuum could do. All i know is it mishapes the head for awhile.

I had to have the forceps with my first as his heart rate was dropping and they had to get him out. There was no damage done to him at all but i had alot of tearing because of it. In the moment i didnt care because i just wanted my babe to b safe but im sure hoping i dont go through that again with the second.

I just had a vacuum assisted delivery a week ago! My baby was stuck off to the side and after and hour and a half of pushing they decided to help her out. It took two pushes after that and she did come out with a bump on her head from the vacuum but its supposed to go away. I also got a third degree tear from her coming out so fast.. I think that's the worst part. It hurts to sit, stand, walk.. Etc.

I just kept an open mind wen goin in to hospital and gave birth to my boy 3wks ago with gas and air. Believe me i was very suprised i handled th pain with just gas and air. But u no u hav to get this baby out and i did not want forcepts at all.

I agree nobody will say they suck. Lol. I made it clear with my second son that i didnt want the forceps  and with my first  i was in labor for 20 hrs... And pushed for almost 4 ... And i lost alot of blood and had fourth degree tears... And they refused a c section...and in the end had to take me to the or to stitch me. My mom always tells me she is surprised that im pregnant with my third. I had a bad doc...and the second time was easier...but do what you feel comfortable doing!

I know that some hospitals don't even use forceps anymore because of that effect^^

Im more tempted to go with the vacuum now. :S i mean in all seriousness which dr is actually going to say that they suck at something? Is there any other way around? You would think with the technologie nowadays that they would have something thats practical and safe at the same time. Im scared that the dr says one thing but hes wrong or something. I hear stories of some drs being forceps gappy or jump right to a c-section. As a normal everday person, how would i know if the dr isnt just going for a csection just because hes tired or something?

I have had both used. My oldest was a forceps baby...when they used them...the bruised his face and damaged nerves on one side. He was in physical therapy for the first year of his life  . He still has a droop in hiss face when he cries:-( . With my youngest they used a vacuum. No problems!  a dr needs to be trained well with a forceps..so defintly talk to your doc.

I've never had either one used. Maybe ask your doc which they use at his hospital?
