Is this normal?

So I am 8 weeks along today and I had my very first doctors appointment. It was pretty basic but they told me they only do one ultrasound at 20 weeks and thats it unless they are concered about the baby... I know multiple moms who got to see more than one ultrasound of their babies.. am I being ripped off? I want to see my little one grow! Should I think about switching doctors?

I havent heard about any abnormalities with my baby Nd i have a friend who is pregnant w. Me she found out at around 8 weeks but shes seen her baby 2 times we are only 18weeks (although we differ thru measurements her baby is big mine small so diff due dates but time of conception was only three days apart) shes 18weeks found out at 8 and seen her baby 2 times if u calculate it thats about once a month. And everything is fine with her baby also. So i say think about it and look around. Plus a new doctor gives u a chance to see your baby again :)

I dont know this sounds very strange to me. But since 6 weeks of getting pregnant i got to see my baby every month. My first doctor went off of my jobs insurance and i seen my baby at 6wks and was told to get another one a month later. I switch doctors because of distance but also i placed myself on medicaid because instead of paying 60 bucks a visit w. Medicaid everything is free and paid by the state. And even then i recieved a great doctor who lets me see my baby every visit once a month (she has a machine) and then schedules me for sonograms once a month. I would work on changing doctors Nd ask every new facility about thier sonagram policies. At least once a month is not too much to ask. And anything can happen. I know a woman who didnt bleed but then when the doctor did the ultrasound seen that the sac burst and let her know she should b expecting her miscarraige soon. Ultrasound are great and i believe necessary. I dont want to scare u or stress u. Get more advice but thats mine.

This is not the usual. You should always have a dating scan around twelve weeks in the NHS. I am 13 weeks and had a routine scan last week. Plus I work as a midwife so I know that you are routinely offered a 12week & 20week scan in the UK. When your doctor makes a referral to the midwife you will be sent your scan date so I wouldn't worry about changing doctor he's is probably just giving confused info.

Depends on your insurance. I got one to confirm the baby was in the uterus at 9 weeks and one at 20 weeks. They said as long as pregnancy was normal and I was measuring appropriately there was no indication for another

It depends on your dr and insurance on how many ultrasounds you get.

Well I got to see plenty of ultrasounds with my baby but it's because she wouldn't show us her vagina at first so they would send me back until we found out what she was.and also because they couldn't see her spine to well. I guess it's true with just one ultrasound but I'm just a saying they kept sending me back because I had a few problems during my pregnancy
