birth control after pregnancy

So this is more of an AFTER pregnancy question lol. I'm almost 36wks and I'm starting to think about my birth control options for after I have my baby. My mom suggested mirena, I was wondering if anyone on here has ever had it and what is your opinion on it?? I'm going to ask my ob/gyn for info about it but I think opinions from people who have used it will be helpful. What are the pros and cons??
  Thankss in advance:))

I thought the mirena was fab! No problems at all except the discomfort when it was inserted. I would maybe bleed twice a year, just spotting though. I never felt the strings and I never had any complaints from my bf!! I will be having another put in as soon as they let me after this baby pops out! Oh, and its effective almost immediately, so no hanging about for weeks waiting for it to work. I didnt personally like the depo or the implant, they made my moods very flat, I had no emotions.

I had the non hormone coil fitted.... it made my periods heavier and after 7 months I had a lot of
Pain and sex was painful too, I went to get it checked and it had slipped down but not out and
Was causing pain....so they removed it. I don't
Think I'd have another. But  a friend has had one
For years with no problems.
I'm going for the implant, had it 3½ years ago after
My other son was born.... it was great.... periods
Were lighter .... I was always forgetting to
Take the pill and then we got pregnant while taking the pill.... so im not doing that route again. But everyone is different.

I'm opting for the iud after my daughter. There are different kinds of them not just mirena. There's actually a copper one that has no hormones. And a few different kind with them like regular bc. I'm going to try one of the ones with hormones first simply because like you I have terrible periods I've always been on BC that only let's me have them 4 a year but that was the pill. I did try the depo too but it didn't work for me it made me bleed for as long as I got it. Almost a year and a half. My mom had luck with the iud hopefully I will too. Good luck.

That's true but I'm just sharing my experience with it, you never know you may have a better outcome then me! My gf had hers inserted and a few months later it fell out on it's own, and she fainted right after! But every woman is dif!

I'm not sure about mirena now lol..  I need a reliable BC that helps give you lighter periods (I've had terrible periods all my life horrible cramps and extremely heavy and they always lasted 8-10 days!)  Mirena sounded good because it goes in and that's it..but maybe I should consider something else...everyything has side effects tho lol

It's flexible but it's like a wire! I didn't ever feel it inside but my bf sure did!

I used the Mirena, worked well, a lil pain when they inserted it, like cramping. I had it removed to try for another baby and when they removed it they had to pull my cervix down cuz it was way way up in there....that was very painful. That was the only problem I had with it. Plus my bf could feel the string when we would be intimate together. That's just my experience though!
