Your contractions are unique to you and your pregnancy. All anyone can do is give you guidelines or tell you how it was for them. For me, it was back labor. I knew it would be, because I've always had back problems due to my last vertebrae and tailbone being fused together. But it was nothing like the back labor I was told about. They told me back labor would start in my back and wrap around to my front. For me, it was constant, consistent pain, in my lower back only. I did have contractions simultaneously eventually, but they did not happen regularly. They were all over the place. I was doing a crossword book and writing down the minutes between them at the top of my puzzles, and ended up calling hospital dispatch and explaining to her what was going on and she told me to go to the hospital. This was 15 hours after the back pain started, about 5 hours after the actual contractions started. When I got there, I was 3cm dialated and they kept me. I was 5 days from my scheduled induction, 6 days past my due date, and up until that day I hadn't dialated at all. I hope that helps you when the time comes, but it may not. Good luck!

Everyone's body is different you can't go by based on what other people say and one thing is for sure it is nothing like period cramps or pains

I only had back labor so I felt tightening all around but I only got shooting pains in my back/hips and thighs. To me it felt nothing like menstral cramps, although that's what I was told! It felt like a muscle spasm every few minutes that hurt super bad. Before pregnancy I used to get back spasms that would bring me to my knees and make me cry and it felt exactly like that

^ what she said was true for my first. I felt really intense cramping, and back pain. It was a constant cycle

I'm not 100% sure, but I have been told that it feels like menstrual cramps. They can start in your back and move to your stomach. They come and go and get more and more intense. They shouldn't be random pains, they should be a few minutes apart, but if they're randomly coming they're Braxton Hicks or normally would be.
