gestational hypertension

I went to the doctor today and was diagnosed with gestational hypertension (pregnancy induced high blood pressure) I have had a fairly uncomplicated pregnancy (in the medical aspect at least) so I'm kind of freaked out about this..they Drew blood and told me if I didn't feel good all of a sudden to call..has anyone else been diagnosed with this? (I'm 39 weeks 3 days)

Oh and it does go away a few months after the baby is born, for me I think it took about  8 months. So don't get upset if it doesn't instantly go away after birth.

I experienced this with 4 of my children. I was put on medication for high blood pressure. I was induced with all of them between 34 and 38 weeks. I was closely monitored. You should be fine since you are 39 weeks. Follow the doc orders. If u feel anything different (headache, severe swelling, etc) call the doc. Good luck.

Up until now my blood pressure was perfect..so I was hoping since its so late it won't affect the baby..I really didn't want to be induced but I'm going back Tuesday and she said if I haven't progressed (I'm only 2 centimeters dilated) she will induce me..I just want to make sure my baby girl is ok!

She will be fine. In my cases my pressure was good until the last few weeks. They say if u have it with one kid Ur chances are high that u will have it again.
