Have a question about Level 2 Ultrasound

I am getting my Level 2 Ultrasound done on June 23 but the nurse had called me to tell me that I have to go to the Genetic Counseling on the 19 of June. And im alittle worryed because, she told me that there is 43% chance of my baby haveing down syndrome. But they have to make sure frist. If anyone is going thru this or has gone thru something like this please tell me your stories. Maybe you might be able to help. Im really nervous.

I had my genetic counciling and ultrasound in the same day.  They did the counceling first.  I think it goes hand in hand.  Most of the time, the blood work gets the false positive and the ultrasound is correct.  There are obvious markers of downs that are visible.  Good Luck

and don't you also hate the have to wait that long until your u/s?!?!  when they found those things in my u/s, we had to wait 4 weeks to go back for our level 2.  and they told us that there were 2 things assiciated w/ what they found which were down syndrome and trisomy 18.  so during those 4 weeks we asked questions everywhere we could and read so much information on the internet and worried ourselves sooooo bad!  and when we went back for the level 2 everything was completely fine!!!  and we're scheduled for delivery in exactly 2 wks!!!  :)

if your 43% is only from the bloodwork i wouldn't worry yet...  those tests by themselves are not accurate w/out an u/s.  and then sometiems even u/s isn't always right.  i hope you don't worry yourself to death like we did and i pray you get good results!  :)

hey...  i just re-read what i said and i didn't mean for the first part to come accross rude...  i'm sorry if it does!  :)

i just think that by having you speak w/ a counselor before they have results would just worry you more.  b/c they may give you information that might not even pertain to your specific case.

My 43% was from my blood work. My ulrtasound came out normal.
And yes I was thinking the same that they were soposed to do my Level 2 Ultrasound before Genetic Counseling. So I don't understand these doctors.

shouldn't they give you the u/s first, then schedule you to speak w/ the genetic counselor???  i would think they would want results first!

we had to have a level 2 this time around and we never had to speak w/ a genetic counselor.  our findings were a CPC and foci in the heart.  we ended up having a follow up u/s and the CPC was gone by then but the foci was still there (but its something that should disapear on its own and poses no health risk).

was your 43% based on your blood test?  or have you had an u/s that has found something already and this one is your follow up?

Hi,  I had a level 2 ultra sound done on 5/20 and i have to go back in July for a 2nd level 2 ultrasound.  My reasons for going are different from yours but
The ultrasound itself is really cool, very clear and crisp  it isnt as grainy as a normal ultrasound.  If they are worried about Downs they should be able to see some clear markers with this type of ultrasound

Good luck
