healthy diet for breastfeeding moms?

I was told about a girl who wasn't giving nutrients to her baby while breastfeeding because she was dieting. I dont have much weight to lose to get back to my pre-pregnant body (maybe 10 ibs) so I dont need anything drastic & I'm not in a big hurry. But having a newborn, most of you moms should know their is absolutely no time for a work out. Maybe just a few crunches, squats and sit ups while the baby is asleep. But I would find it quite easier to have a good diet then working out since when the baby IS asleep, I am too. Does anyone have any good diet suggestions that would help me get all the nutrients for baby and help me lose weight?
or does anyone know the main foods that I need to give to my baby so I dont deprive her?

Yes, aniao!  A pump mimics a babies sucking so you burn the same amount of calories! I was wondering that at one point too lol.

Breastfeeding burns an extra 500 calories a day as it is. Dieting is not an option. Eating frequent HEALTHY small meals and snacks is honestly your best bet. If you look on the internet and type in something along the lines of "meal plans for breastfeeding moms" then a whole bunch of info should pop up for you. Example meal and snack menus will also pop up to give you an idea of what and how often you should be eating. Good luck

If you dont diet and eat as u normally would, your breastmilk will provide the nutrients baby needs. If you are breastfeeding regularly,on the clock, your body burns over Five hundred calories so the weight will burn off especially if u gain a good portion of your weight during pregnancy and nothing more.Dieting isnt necessary i believe.I breastfed with my first and went back to pre-pregnancy weight just fine and i ate as i normally would, ill be breastfeeding this time to:) I know after pregnancy we can be a lil discouraged about our bodies but the important thing is that baby is healthy and getting what he or she needs from moms breastmilk.Keeping your focus on baby and being an active mom, weight will come off.Dont add stress to the equation,it will only cause u to emotionally eat which will add aditional pounds.Find time to exercise when baby's napping,or go for an afternoon stroll with baby, whatever keeps u active. That on top of breastfeeding will help and it will help u to relax.Instead of dieting maybe u can alternate meals, cut down on sugars, maybe snacks and high calorie foods u may eat to often, add more fruits and veggies to your diet.Dont put in your mind that you must cut off a million things forever which is what our minds take in when we diet and go into panic mode which leads to binge eating, trust me ive tried lol instead i disciplined myself to make healthier choices while allowing myself a treat here or there,if i wanted ice cream or cheesecake id have it,but in small portions and not everyday till its gone.Keep low calorie snacks in your cabinets,if u must have or crave chips or whatever, buy a small kid size bag of chips,or one individually rapped cookie so u only have it for that moment vs a family bag or 20 pack of cookies that youll go back and eat throughout the day.Hope this helps:)
