I was diagnosed with group b strep quite early and even though it can go away they are going to be safe and give me the meds when i go in labor which sounded like to me were hooked right up to an iv. When you get admitted to the hospital they will ask you if you have it and right away will give you the meds.
I asked my doctor about getting treatment now but she said no even if i cure it now doesn't mean I won't have it then. 20% of women have this and it never leaves your body completely.
I am very sorry about your son, im sure this makes it a lot scarier. I will pray for your labor and baby and hope everything works out great this time.
They usually wont give the steroid injections unless you have contractions and they can only give you the antibiotics while you are in labor other wise if they give it to you now you may get the group B strep back by the time you actually go into labor. As far as the steroid injections they probly dont want to give it to you unless they know for sure you are in labor, but you always have the right to see someone else and get a second opinion. Good luck hope all goes well for you.
