My doctor does an ultrasound at every appointment no matter what... I'm not high risk he just has a older machine the regular black, grey, and white. They check my weight, blood pressure, I get to pee in a cup, he checks my legs and ankles for swelling , and I usually get atleast 4 pictures each month of my baby
I got one at 20 weeks and then another one at 35 weeks to see if the baby is in the head down position. I'm a cash patients so not sure if that matter.
Then I got another at 40 weeks to make sure the baby still got plenty of fluid otherwise we will have to induce. End up giving birth two days after that so I guess I should had just let the doctor induce and save that hundred bucks for the ultrasound. Maybe you can ask your doctor and pay out of pocket?
With my son I only got 2 u/s and with this pregnancy I am about to be up to 10 and not by choice due to some complications I have to see a specialist but hopefully you will get lucky and get to see baby again :))
Thanks everyone! I guess by looking at pregnancy blogs and tv shows I kind of anticipated it but maybe they are going to receive private scans. Awww man! Being a ftm all I want to do is look at my angel!
most doctor's only give one or two in the beginning. they will only give another if there are any problems
You can ask and request all you want, doesn't mean you will get one. Try looking for 3d/4d places in your area. You will have to pay out of pocket but better than no ultrasound at all.
You can't request an U/S, unless there's something medically necessary, it's unlikely the doctor will even do it, but if they do, your insurance won't cover it. There are places that do private scans for a fee.
Is it possible to request an ultrasound or no? I have received more than one I actually got two prior to last appt.
Unfortunately, I don't think you'll get another ultrasound. My friend was told that she would only have one & my sister only had one. I was told that I would have one once a month during my third trimester, because I started out overweight. They use the ultrasound to monitor her size instead of the measuring tape. I'm 26w4d.
