There's actually another post on here from a woman who took castor oil and she's having diarrhea really bad right now. I just don't see the point in inducing labor. If your baby isint ready....then your baby isint ready. You shouldn't induce labor when the baby is still developing.

Obviously some people are fine doing certain things while others are not, but lately on Facebook there has been a story of a woman who was about 1 week over her due date and decided to try castor oil, her baby did have a bowl movement inside her (which can happen even without taking castor oil) but the castor oil did put stress on the baby and the baby ended up swallowing her bowl movement and getting an infection that turned septic and she fought for life for a few days and then died. Like I said, some people are fine doing it but there are so many other natural ways that don't carry as much of a risk factor like sex, walking, squats, bouncing on a yoga ball or other natural remedies that there's really no necessary reason to resort to something that has a higher risk factor and could potentially be dangerous for both you and your baby.

I just mixed a tablespoon and a half with coffee. I too am so tired of being pregnant. We've been walking, swung on the swings, took the bumpy roads, mixed milk and orange juice, etc. Nothing yet. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm so ready for this baby to get here.

Castor oil can actually cause a lot of problems it doesn't put u into labor it gives you the poos and the poos can start labor because of how bad it is. It can also cause your baby to poo in the amneotic fluid and the baby swallows it and that is very bad and can cause many complications for baby and also cause bad infection. Castor oil is a very bad idea all my doctors advise strongly against it because of the complications it causes quite frequently

I took castor oil and nothing happened no diarrhea, vomiting or contractions. I took it once a week since I turned 37 weeks now I'm almost 39 weeks and still absolutely nothing. I just believe it's meant for me to be pregnant forever I was taking 4 tablespoons by the way

In all honesty there are no 'pros' to taking castor oil.

Because its a harsh laxative it acts to induce labour by irritating the bowels which then irritates the uterus and starts contractions which starts labour BUT it will only work if bub is ready to come. Otherwise you'll either end up with violent diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration or nothing at all. If it does bring on labour, you could be looking at a very messy delivery and if the delivery happens too fast because of taking it, it can stress bub and cause bub to 'poop' in the sack (meconium) which can evidently put your little one in NICU with breathing and respiratory problems.
