I was just going to say that I am pregnant and am allergic to more than one antibiotic and zithromax or azithromycin ( the generic) is what they give me instead.  It is an erythromycin based antibiotic which is like they said before category B and as safe as you get in medicines.  Nothing is rated A.  I work in a pharmacy.  Relax!

google's answer

Azithromycin (Zithromax®) is considered a pregnancy Category B medicine by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which means that it has not been studied in pregnant women. However, when studied in pregnant animals, azithromycin showed no negative effects on unborn babies.

and i'm assuming that your dr knows you are pregnant or nursing?

I had a sinus infection when I was in my mid 20 weeks and was prescribed Augmenten (sp?)- the dr who prescribed it said it was fine to take while I'm pregnant.  I also called my OB clinic to double check and they told me it was fine to take.  If you have an infection -and the doctors know you're pregnant - take what they give you.  I felt HORRIBLE before the meds and was told by my clinic they'd rather I take care of myself...  Now I'm 33 weeks and doing fine.
