Heart beat doesnt mean anything specifically. Also was this a 20 week scan? Because you dont need to drink the water at a 20 week scdan as everything is big enough, or so i recall anyway.
Be warned, without a reason to give one (gender is not a worth while reason) you would likely need to pay out of pocket. I was on Medicare (I'm pretty sure that's what it was) and they could only do scans when something potentially serious was wrong.
Okay good, I would be just as thrilled no matter what. I just want a healthy baby :) I think I will ask for another scan just to be sure.
You also don't need a full bladder. It just helps to see things more clearly. If they were unsure about the sex, im sure they'd tell you.
Most insurances only cover one scan. In you might have to pay money for an additional scan to make sure.
And the above pps are right. The heartrate and line thing are just old wives tales. They aren't true.
The heart rate and line are just old wives tales. They're just a fun thing to look at while pregnant. However, if you believe your anatomy scan was wrong, you can always ask for another scan.
(that is to say, IF you had a first trimester ultrasound - this is the only time you would have to drink anything, as it doesn't matter later in pregnancy)
Heartbeat means nothing in comparison to gender. It varies depending on activity levels and when the baby is resting. My babys heartbeat was always 120-140 and she is definitely a girl. The line up the belly is dependent on your skin and how the hormones affect it.
First trimester ultrasounds are very accurate, and you don't need to have a full bladder to be able to see the baby. The amount of liquid in your bladder doesn't make the baby bigger or smaller, it just makes it easier to see. I had a vaginal ultrasound at 7 weeks 3 days without a full bladder (in fact I had just urinated prior to it being done) and they only had trouble finding her because my uterus is tilted.
