hormone shots?

My son was born at 33+3, so my previous ob said with subsequent pregnancies I will need weekly hormone shots to prevent preterm labor. I am now 12+4 with my second child. In 1.5 weeks I see a doctor (I usually see a midwife) to discuss preterm labor prevention.  Anyone have experience with pregnancy after having a preemie? What sort of side effects do the hormone shots have?

My sister had some pain and itching where she got the shot so i was just curious what others have experienced. Thanks for the input! I hope I'm side effect free as well :)

I had my daughter at 34weeks she was strong and healthy the only problem was her feeding needed a lil work. This will be my 3rd time on the shots. Im currently 24weeks along and been on them since 20weeks. I hope I go further in pregnancy this time around.

What kinda of hormone?  Progesterone perhaps?  No side effects with those and they're to prevent from going into pre term labor
