How long after delivery Can you get the depo-shot? And what side effects did the shot have on you? I heard it makes you gain weight and have terrible mood swings.

I loved the depo but I had the same experience as ladyred2perfect almost exactly my doc said she gonna give it to me right there in the.hospital after baby comes it works like 24 hours later and that's what I'm looking for since I want to wait a while before having another one.. I don't want 2 in diapers lol

I have had the shot, merina (spelling, iud), & nuva ring. So far the ring was my fav, most comfortable & least side effects.

Nuva ring is the absolute best I was on it for 5 years no side affects and no u don't feel it at all neither will ur partner

I used to be on the depo shot! I had no trouble with it! I lost weight while on it (I pig out on junk food when I have my period and over time the weight adds up...lol) i also get really crabby when im on my period so by eleminating the period i eleminate the weight gain and moodiness! Everyone response to it differently. My younger sister was on it for a year and went off and has had nothing but trouble with the injection site (which is here hip) constant pain and muscle spasms. As for when you can get it...My best friend had her baby in march 2012 and they gave it to her with in 24 hours after having the baby! You would need to talk to your doctor to find out hiw their practice does the shot! I plan to hopefully get it right after I give birth to my son....I really don't think I could handle what they call Irish twins! One is enough for right now! Lol!

The depo shot made me bi polar! I had horrible mood swings along with weight gain. I hated the shot!

I gained 25 pounds in 3 months. I won't be using hormones this time around im going to get the paragard which is a non hormonal Iud. It lasts 10 years

I Have Had Depo I Didnt Gain Weight Or Have Mood Swings I Just Did Not Have A Period And Even After I Got Off Depo I Didn't Have A Period For Almost 3More Months And When I Did Get My Period Back It Was Very Irregular And Caused Problems With Me Trying To Concieve Because I Was Not Ovulating Like I Should But Everybody Body Is Different So You Might Or Might Not Get And Side Effects

Well, what about the ring or whatever. Can you feel that its inside you the whole time? What side effects did you guys have on those?

I believe its at your post partum check up so 6-8 weeks after delivery...i was on it for 5 years and gained 50lbs...i didnt have the mood swings although they did take me off it for a couple shots cause i was getting hot flashes.
