Worried Again

I have had 2 miscarriages and am now pregnant again. My LMP said I should be about 12 weeks now. I went in for the first u/s and there was a gestational sac and also a yolk sac but no fetal pole or heartbeat visible. The doctor ordered me to go to an imaging place to make sure they were certain that there was nothing there. Went to the imaging place the following week and there was everything previously seen along with a fetal pole and a very faint heartbeat. I am so confused because he previously checked my hcg levels and said they had dropped since first ultra sound......so if my levels are low and he said it could be another miscarriage, then how is it possible that the next week a fetal pole and heartbeat was seen in 2nd u/s...I am so confused, can anyone help me with this.....the doctor said it could mean that I am not as far as I should be going by my LMP, but I am afraid its another miscarriage......please help me!!!

I would suggest if you are still bleeding this weekend to go to the E.R. its always better to go even if it is nothing. Like you said with your 9 year old that you had vaginal bleeding with him when pregnant, my mom had the same thing with my twin brothers. If you go to the E.R this weekend if you are still bleeding they should do a scan to make sure everything is alright and possibly check your levels. Best wishes and luck to you!!

I am glad that you mentioned that because I did hear the doctor state at one time that my uterus was tilted when doing the vaginal u/s.I was never told what the baby measured to know how far behind the growth of it is. After leaving the diagnostic place, I was to wait on a phone call...got the phone call from my doc saying that the people at the diagnostic imaging place did see a fetal pole and a heartbeat so that was a good sign. I was then told to take it easy and don't put anything into the vagina at all. At this point, I am very confused because last week I was told my hcg level had dropped and this week there is a fetal pole and heartbeat visible so I ask her what does that mean and her response was we will have to wait and see and then schedule you for another ultrasound in a week....Ok, the u/s is not until Monday but on last night, early morning around 4 am, I started bleeding. I remember the doc telling me if I have any problems to just  come in the office so I get up this morning and go to the office, like she ordered, and guess what she is not there and I was told to come back on Monday and that I couldnt be seen today...So as of now, I am still bleeding, which it was red then turned brown, then red again, so I am scared. Didnt go to the ER because I wanted to see if the bleeding would stop because I experienced the same with my son who is now 9 years old.......Please keep me in your prayers because I already know this would be my 3rd miscarriage only this time it is not a blighted ovum like the last two. I am sorry to be so long winded......My husband took this one very hard because he had his hopes up since they saw a fetus and heartbeat which was something we did not see at all in the last two...I must say this is my last try....I cannot take anymore and I wish you the best of luck....again thank you for the prayers...

I know that sometimes a baby won't show up on u/s until later. This happens to a lot of women that have tilted uterus'. The baby just isn't visible. I am wondering though if you are 12wks what did the baby measure? I am wondering how far behind the baby's growth is or if it is? If the growth is way, way behind and you know for sure your LMP and your hcg is dropping that is a very bad sign. However, I am really questioning your doctor because if your hcg levels drop that means that a m/c is coming. Your levels don't just drop. They eventually plateau and then later in pregnancy can decline. But the fact that you did see a fetal pole and saw a heartbeat is a VERY VERY good sign!! This could just be one of those weird situations but I can only imagine how scary this is with having miscarried previously.

So if I was you I would want my blood drawn once and then 48hrs drawn again. If it doubles then that is a good sign of growth and if it drops that can mean m/c. Also in about a wk to ten days have another u/s to see if they can find the baby on a regualr u/s and find a heartbeat. The most important thing to watch for is if the baby grew from what it was last measuring at. Well I hope this helps and I'm so sorry for what you are going through. You will be in my prayers...

I hoped everything would turn out for me also but I just saw some bleeding so we both know what that means--miscarriage again...this was my last try, I give up,I am tired of getting a dnc done...I pray everything goes well for you.

my first scan revealed the same sac and k\yolk with out fetal pole and heart beat next one showed heart beat and fetal pole everything is ok but hope everything turns out for you
