i have always had irregular menses. i havent had a period like in 2-3 months ..my doctor set up a sonogram apointment for me yesterday to check to see if its not ovarian cyst .  there they was doing and external sonogram and at a point i heard a sound like wind passing through then when the radiologist was steatdy with her machine i heard a heart beat which is not normal for the uterus if youre not pregnant , i a m not too sure if i am or not ,but they also did an internal sonogram and we heard it again....they didnt tell me nothing though but i also know that we have a lil pulse in our abdomen that we can hear but with an internal sonogram will we hear it still and even though she had the machine on my uterus region..is it normal to hear heart beat

I am pregnant now, and the only time we heard the babies heartbeat was when he narrowed in on the babies heartbeat with the u/s machine - so we wouldn't have heard it otherwise.  Hope this helps.

it actually is normal to hear a heartbeat...i have had plenty of ultrasounds due to ovarian cysts...its because of the blood flow to the ovaries.  Plenty of times the tech has told me " OK, your going to hear a heartbeat, it us checking the blood flow to your ovaries"...

I commented on your other post, but as for hearing heartbeats in other places aside from your abdomen, I heard my heartbeat when they were checking to see how my kidneys were during an external ultrasound.

As for internal u/s ...you'd think that hearing a heartbeat would be even louder since it's *inside* our body!  lol
