You need to be taking prenatals right now. You can look up the best recommened amounts online and get some good OTC ones. RA has no known ill effects on a baby but if you have other problems it might change that. I believe physically it might be more difficult though just because of the pain. Your doctor will be able to explain this in more detail when you get seen. With the Prednisone, it's a class C drug, so it's unknown what affect it will have on the baby. Since it's early, there likely won't be much damage, but no one can say for sure. Call around to different doctors. Some will still see you even if you don't have insurance if they know you're applying for it.

There are lots of low income health clinics that you can go to just to start with. I was in the same boat as you. I am very high risk and was really scared of losing the baby so I called around to different ob's and told them I was high risk and my medicaid was pending and I was able to be seen by my now doc. I called every day to check the status of my medicaid and I think they got sick of me calling because they had my medicaid approved within 13 days. There is a place here called open arms pregnancy I don't know if it's nation wide or not but if it is look it up. They will do your first ultrasound for free and guide you through the steps you need to take to have a happy healthy pregnancy. They are really great. Good luck to you and keep posting!

As Ambrelynn said you can apply now but you have to have confirmation of pregnancy. It's like a vicious catch 22. So anyway find a MC+ doctor, get your pregnancy confirmed (you'll need a letter from him/her stating you had a positive test in their office) and take that with your other information (proof of income, proof of residency, ID, etc.) to the Medicaid office. They'll cover up to three months back of bills from your approval date.

You can start going now and medicaid will pick up any bills you receive if it's within 3 months before :)

you should start taking Prenatal Vitamins as soon as possible. You can get them at Walmart or Walgreens.. (I buy mine at walmart and there is a 60 day supply for less than 5.00) I would def apply for medicaid, but until you are approved you can try going to a free clinic like Birthright or Planned PArenthood... I am not sure about the Prednisone  but if you stopped taking it that is probably the best thing you could have done. Once you see someone regarding your pregnancy ask them about the perscription and they may be able to tell you if it is safe or give you an alternative medicine for the remainder of your pregnancy! Congrats on finding out you are pregnant and have a great 9 months!
