irregular contractions?!

I'm 38+4 and been having them for about 24 Hours now.. How long does this usually last? I'm now feeling depressed over it as I can't get any help and my partner doesn't care how much pain that I am in he just wants his meals when his hungry and won't lift a finger to help me -.- the hospital is refusing to take me still until 3-5 minutes apart! :-(

): I'm in almost the same predicament. Just minus the husband stuff. I'm 38+5 and I get super sharp back pains that lead down in my pelvic area and last no longer than 30 seconds let alone they just come and go as they please. One will be 5 mins apart, another 20, another 10, etc. And theyll keep going for hours. They lasted 6 hrs last night and just now are somewhat starting again. I feel like she's so close and we're so anxious that it's driving us crazy! I've been reading online and read it could be the baby getting lower into the birth canal but I have a doctors appt tomorrow to see what she thinks.

I did last night thinking it was just Braxton hicks lol I stayed until the water cooled off and nothing :'( I've even been on my feet today going backwards and forwards and that hasn't seemed to have done anything either :/
