is it supposed to hurt?

I'm 28+2 and I went to the hospital this afternoon because something just felt off. So they hooked me up to check my baby's heart rate and then did a culture swab of my who ha and checked my cervix to make sure I wasn't dialating. But oh my god, when the doctor did the swab and checked my cervix it hurt so bad I felt like I was going to cry. Is it supposed to hurt that much? Is it any indication of how bad it will hurt when I give birth?

It depends on the dr. I was checked at 37 w by a nurse in l&d and wasn't dilated at all. I felt almost nothing, it was my first time being checked. When my actual ob started checking me it hurt like hell lol not that she was rough bug her hand was much larger than the very small Filipino nurse at the hospital and my cervix was so far back the dr had to push down on baby just to feel it. It's not an indication of how your birth experience will be contractions are much different than that lol and the ring of fire is painful like nothing else

It hurt so much because your cervix is so far back. Which is good cause your only 28 weeks. Once you start effacing it gets less painful
