I take mine in the morning!
My midwives test by having you fast like normal, do the finger prick, then go out and eat a big breakfast with lots of carbs - like pancakes and syrup and OJ etc - in place of the syrup drink. That makes much more sense to me.
How they do this test, sorry it's a silly question but this is my first pregnancy and I dnt know about it yet
It made me feel sick, but its just because its so much sugar at once. Its not dangerous. It is such an important test...gestational diabeties often shows no symptoms until it has put the health of mother and baby at risk.
Personally I felt like the sugar was way to much for a pregnant woman and I wasnt comfortable putting that into my body. But I also had symptoms of ges diabetes and it's extremely important to know and control it if you have it. I felt sick as the sugar rush weaned off, but with a meal and a nap it was gone. Im glad I did it
I doubt you would be given something that is not ok for you and baby from the baby people. It's needed absolutely
Hmm that's interesting. I've never heard anything negative about it except that the liquid is nasty and some ppl feel a little queasy afterward. I couldn't imagine why it would be bad considering knowing if you've developed g. diabetes is very important
I think not getting tested and possibly having diabetes and not knowing or controlling it, is a lot worse than the test itself.
It's a lot of sugar so if you're not used to it you can feel light headed and a bit sick. But I think it's very important to get done. GD isn't something to take lightly.
Yes, its good for you to find out if you have gestational diabetes or not. If it goes undetected it means problems for both mother and baby. I think its mostly in peoples heads. They get to worked up. In my opinion I have never had any adverse effects. I have taken it three times.
I had mine today and I have totally felt like crap all day since then :/ but I think it's important to know if you do have GD or not
