when should I call my midwife?

So I checked my cervix and its to the front and about 4.5 cm, and I have been having contractions but I don't want to go to the hospital until I absolutely have to. I dont wanna feel like a bother or not comfortable like I would be in my home but im just not sure if I need to call them or go in.

I've never checked my own cervix but my ob wanted to know when my contractions became regular and painful and my hospital wanted to know when I had 3 in 10minutes. You can always call and ask yours. Good luck!

You go to the hospital when your contractions are at least 3 minutes apart or when your water breaks. Can't really count on your own dilation test.
