So on May 4th at 3:11 my baby boy Elijah Michael Bennett was born at 7lbs 1.6 ounces and 20 inches long and he's the most gorgeous baby ever! I woke up around 5am May 3rd because I thought my water broke, when I got to the hospital they said it wasn't my water so they sent me home. I was already having some contractions at that point. I went back around 5pm because the contractions were 5 mins apart and a minute long and they sent me home because I still wasn't dilating. The contractions worsened till I went back around 11pm and I was only dilated at 1cm so they waited an hour and checked me again and I was still at 1 but my baby's heart rate dropped so they admitted me so they could watch him. Once they hooked up the iv meds I fell right asleep and only woke up for the epidural and fell back asleep. After waking up in pain and having my epidural refilled about 3 or four times they broke my water an dB kept checking me so I got infection in the lining of my uterus and got a fever of 105 and was throwing up and shaking badly, when contractions came my baby's heart rate would drop and they said if it kept happening I would have to have a c section which I wanted to avoid. They had me push a few times but I was only able to for about five seconds and they wanted me to push for 10. They told me if I couldn't hold it and push him down far enough for him to not be at risk I would need an emergency c section. They also said they may be able to use a vacuum to help pull him out if I could just get him down far enough. So I pushed as hard as I could and I had him no problem, no sergical cuts and one tint tear! He has to stay in the nicu till tomorrow to make sure he didn't get an infection :( but he's the cutest baby ever!
