labour or early labour?

The other morning I went to the hospital because I was worried about some cramping pains that I haven't had before,  the midwife checked me out (I'm 38+6 on this day) and she said what I was experiencing was contractions at 7 minutes apart, and that she would expect me to be in full labour later that day. It's now 24 hours since, ive had on and off contractions all day, some closer (6-7 mins apart but not painful) and some more painful ones about 15 minutes apart. I woke up to a little wetness which was strange but no where near the amount expected to be my waters breaking, I've had little on and off contractions since then. So my question is, is this just early labour, and it will progress, or should I be seeing the doctor/midwife now?

If you leak water it definitely could be your water and my friend had that happened to her and her baby wasplugging the water. You should definitely call and see what they want you to do

If you continue to leak it could be your waters even if it's not gushing.
