leg pain

Some nights my legs would get cramps, but it wasn't so bad. All I did was fold my leg and the pain went away. But last night I woke up yelling and scared my hubby lol. Both of my legs had cramps twice in less then 10 min. I layer down afterwards and I could feel my leg muscle pulling it was so weird and kind of painful....where my thighs are. I tried to walk and I couldn't put my legs straight at all. I have an appointment tomorrow! They wouldn't see me today. But is it because I'm having a girl? lol I've been pregnant before but I've never felt any pain whatsoever with my son! All I had with my son was restless leg syndrome. With my girl I had extreme back pain, now this. My question is what could be causing this? Im scared I might get them again tonight. :(

Make sure you drink plenty of water during the day. Anytime I get leg cramps, it's usually a night when I was super busy at work and didn't get enough to drink. Something that helps me is a heating pad. I wrap my crampy leg up with it and just put it on a low temp setting. The nice heat really soothes the ache and it'll take the edge off till it goes away.

Getting the circulation flowing even if its massaging from the ankles up can help. Keeping hydrated an making sure u have those electrolytes as well as eating foods high in potassium such as those good old bananas. If the cramps r in your calf or back of your leg stretching them out by pointing your toes towards the front of your shin as much as u can will stretch your muscle an release your cramp. I became an expert on leg cramps when pregnant with my daughter I have been on top of it all this time around an thankfully I havnt had one yet so hope this helps.

I actually got a really bad calf cramp a week ago. basically my husband had to help me strech my calf out until it would relax, but even after my leg was really sore for the next 3 days. From what I have read they are not 100% sure why women get these cramps, but mostly they think it is due to all the new weight we are carrying around--especially since the leg cramps usually happen later in pregnancy. What I do know is they recommend keeping hydradated since this helps with muscles. Also before you go to bed stretch your legs out so you don't go to sleep with them super tight. And if you do wake up with another cramp strech until it has loosened.
