location of contractions?

Can contractions only be located in the lower stomach? I've been getting on and off pain in my lower stomach after having sex. But people say contractions wrap around to the back but these pains dont. So are they contractions or?? I'm 39+3

When I had my daughter I had stinging period pain, no back pain what so ever, so it's possible.

Thank you for answering.
I'm getting these pains that are all in my lower stomach and pelvic area. I have to take deep breaths and stop what I'm doing when I get these pains. They still aren't very consistent though :/

For me there was a pain that when it hit me I just felt like I knew for sure I was in labor. It was a deep kind of pain I had a ton of back labor though and pains down my sciatica.  I knew I was in labor when in had been resting and dozed off for a few minutes only to be women up by a pain and 2 minutes later the same thing happened. It kept happening every 2 minutes for me but they say anything that's 10 minutes or less apart ins considered contractions. But the pain eventually had me controlling my breathing, I was rocking kind of on my hands and knees while on my bed anything ND when I would walk around so I went to the hospital and was 4 cm dilated anything didnt 45 minutes later went to 7 cm.

Really? ? I just went for a walk and they are still coming and going not very consistent though. The pain is tolerable, but I do have a high pain tolerance.  How did the pain feel for you?
