looking for some advice for bc

So I'm 19 weeks pregnant so obviously birth control isn't a concern right now, but I am trying to decide on a good birth control method for after my beautiful little baby is here. I'm horrible at remembering to take pills so I was leaning towards the mirena but have heard so many horror stories about it. For example, can your  bf or hubby feel it, and does it cause sex to be painful for both partners? And how common is it for the mirena to fall out or cause ovarian cysts? Please let me know your experiences with it!

i had mirena also. it didnt hurt for me at all to have it put in. i started bleeding lightly the next day and it continued everyday for 3 months. after that it was great for the most part. i had light spotting on and off, only one day once or twice a month, after the first three months and the best part for me was no period at all! the spotting eventually stopped but my sex drive, well as my husband always said, what sex drive. i never wanted sex if i kept it in i probably could have went the rest of my life without sex. i had no interest in sex and didnt enjoy it at all when we did have it. then i started getting abdominal pain, feeling light headed, dizzy, feeling not myself, foggy headed and lower back pain. i went to my gyno and she said there was no way mirena would casue those effects even though the internet/info sheet on mirena says otherwise. so i figured my doc knew best and just thought i was crazy. after another year symptoms got worse, my back hurt so bad i couldnt even tuck my daughter in at night. my husbands in the army and we had moved so i went to the new doc and explained what was wrong again she said no way mirena would do that. sooo i went another year and finally since my husband and i were talking about having another baby, since our daughter turned 2, i had mirena taken out. within a week my back stopped hurting and within 2 weeks i was back to normal! i would stay away from mirena if i were you!!! i had mirena taken out in july and got pregnant the end of sept !!! due with a little boy june 16th so fertility wasnt a problem for me like i hear a lot of woman being concerned about after having mirena. i loved not having my period and was thinking of trying liberal, the pill, after this baby. but not sure

I DO NOT RECOMEND MERINA!!!! I had cramps all month and some times had 2 periods a month. Sex hurt for me and my husband could feel the strings. I had bad discharge also the who experience was awful. I got it taken out after 2 years and every symptom went away! My dr. Denys any side effect was caused from it but I know it was! 15 days after I got it taken out I got pregnant I am now 19 weeks with my baby boy and when he is born I'm getting the shot!

I  know someone who would tie their bc pills to their toothbrush lol so every morning they'd remember to take it. Kinda funny but it worked.

So with breastfeeding I can only use iud, shot and the pill?

I've heard TERRBILE things about depo, especially weight gain and infertility after, I've heard pretty bad things about the IUD as well, my friend had the patch and got clots around it. I chose the BCP, it's a pain in the butt remembering it, but setting a daily alarm on your phone makes it easier, and it's the best, less side effect, option. Are you planning on breastfeeding? Because with that you have the shot, iud, or mini pill, a progesterone only based BC, it's not the same as a normal BCP. While breastfeeding it has to be hormone free, so you can't use the nuva ring, patch, implanon, etc.

I wouldn't advise the depo shot... lol I gained over 50 lbs getting that shot when my Doctors told me the most I would gain is about 2-5lbs.. I got the shot twice, gained 25lbs each time both in the duration of a week after I got it..

I quit using BC after that, all I wanted it for was to stop my periods and I ended up bleeding for 6.5mths.

I had the nuva ring. You can take it out during sex if you want or leave it in. But you just have to remember to put it back in afterwards. You leave it in for 3 weeks and don't even feel it or think about it then take it out for a week and that's the week you're on your period. Then put a new ring in. And do the whole process all over. I loved it. Never had any kind of issues with it.

I plan on using the patch because all of the horror stories scare me... Id rather not have anything that can puncture my uterus in there.

The shot also causes miscarriages for up to a year after you go off of it. My friend had 7 miscarriages in a year because of the shot. I use meraina, and it have me an ovarian cyst, it didn't hurt much because it was small...but my husband asked to have the string cut shorter so he couldn't feel it any .

I agree with abigailsmomma, my sister had the patch and it worked great! I heard the shot makes you gain weight. And the pill does suck trying to remember taking it.

my sister had the mirena and it caused pelvic infections, she still gets them after they took it out. I have a friend that had it and it implanted itself into her pelvic bone I believe. had to have surgery to remove it. I'm gonna look into the nuva ring after I have my baby.

I think the patch is the best option. Its what my sister uses because she never remembers her pill... You wear it then once you get your period you change it. Once a month...easy as pie and effective!

I would say the shot. You can breastfeed while on the shot as well.

My friends mirena fell out.. you can get the shot if its offered there or if its available they have a rod birth control that goes in the upper inside of your arm. It's kinda expensive so i'd say go with the shot.
