I've heard that you cannot eat lunch meat while pregnant. Why is that ? It makes me really angry because that's all I've been craving.

Listeria is rare but not that rare. My Dr said lunch meat every now and then is fine but just don't eat it all day every day.... P.s. there is a voluntary recall on produce sold by wawona packaging due to possible listeria contamination. (Wawona packing sells produce at Wegman's, Trader Joe's, Costco, BJs, and Sam's club. The recall affects peaches, plums, nectarines, and pluots)

Besides listeria, lunch meat has a higher level of nitrates which causes higher chance of different types of cancer. I've had some, but in moderation. Same with hotdogs and bacon

I've eaten cold lunch meat from the deli and etc I didn't even know it was apparently bad for u

Really you can eat it but some people i guess really care about listeriah. But i eat it all the time.!

Listeria is something that can effect us all, pregnant or not. My ob said the only case of Listeria she had heard about in her 30 years of practice was on a soap opera. lol. Really, there is nothing to be worried about. The chances of contracting listeria is slim to none. But always make sure the meat has been stored properly.

I think you'd be fine to eat it cold as long as you aren't going overboard. I hate warmed up lunch meat it tastes nasty

Oh good ! If I had to deal with watching someone eat another sandwich in front of me I would blow a fuse !

You can eat it. They say to heat it up because of listeria, but I've eaten cold sandwiches every pregnancy and my kids were perfectly fine. I eat subway just about everyday. Its perfectly safe...FYI watch out for the fireworks that'll probably take place on this post.

Is BC the chance of it having listeria, u  can eat it:) and if your worried about listeria heat up the meat first
