When I got my application, they gave you a list of what you were filing for and I checked marked Food Stamps and Medicaid (there was also tanf and cash assistance that I didn't check). I didn't have to apply separately for them. So It must be different In different cities.

That's true, I'm not sure If they will ask you about your bank statements as I filed for Food Stamps and Medicaid. Could've been 'cuz of the Food Stamps, I didn't think about that.

You can't give It to 'em verbally If that's what your askin' due to fraud.  You can get a copy from your Health Services Building. At least that's where we got ours at as well as a duplicate of your birth certificate.... I had to go through It a long time ago and I gave them a copy of It on a piece of paper and my brother's was on It as well and they took It.

If they ask for it & you don't turn it in they will deny your medicaid. But your state may not request it. Like here they only request it if you are applying for food stamps but they don't request it just for medicaid.

I believe If It's not listed on the paper on the things to give them, then yes. But If It Is listed on the paper, you will have too.

Is there any way to avoid giving them my bank account statements?

It varies by state. They will tell you what you need & they can get you pre-approved until you get everything turned in. They give you 2-3 weeks to get it all together. In Indiana they require the past 3 months pay stubs, car title, ID, SS Card, birth certificate, copy of any other insurance card, utility bills for 3 months, & rent receipts for 3 months.

I don't know about SC but for me, I had to get bank statements, three recent pay stubs, bills and rent I have to pay, proof of pregnancy, title to my car and my Insurance bill, pretty much anythin' you have to pay for and If anyone Is giving you money you gotta let them know (which might hurt your chances), they're gonna ask If the BD Is In the pic. and for me they didn't need his Info until after the baby Is born. They'll give you an application to fill out and It'll have a list of things for you to give them.
