medicine to stop cervix?

My cervix is shortening g and my dr said if it keeps on I may need medicine to make sure the baby stays in longer. Has anyone had to take medicine? What was it? And did you have side effects?  Did the baby have side effects?  I don't take med often so im worried. Im 24weeks I would like to make it to at least 34. Last week my cervix was 2.8 this week  it was 2.45. She said I am jus barely considered it being short.

I've been on progesterone shots since January I'm currently 21 weeks n so far things are good with the baby :) did they give you an idea of what medicine they were going to put you on?

I was having contractions at 32 weeks they gave me some shot that didnt work so they gave me this pill that I had to take every 6 hours while I stayed overnight at the hospital.  They also gave me to steriod shots for babies lungs if he were to be born early. I am now 34 weeks so all is going ok right now. Currently not on anything tho.

I started having contractions at 25weeks I was 1cm dilated ,(31weeks now) anyways  they gave me medicine at the hospital and I also had to stay over night to monitor my baby boy .

At 27 weeks my doctor told me my cervix was short it was measuring 2.3 so they started me on progesterone.  It is safe for me and baby.
