I think it varies a lot. I've been bigger than people have been expecting all along, especially given that this is my first child, but my doctor's not worried about it. You should see people's reactions when I tell them I'm only 4 and a half months lol. I didn't have much morning sickness, but I also eat fairly healthy and have been pretty active thoughout. It's not even showing in my face, just in my big belly. :)
My dad says that my mom "carried like the Titanic" so I've been wondering how much of it is genetic.
I love the analogy from the Mayo Clinic...nice and simple!
I didn't have that with my second, but there was 5 years in between. But now with 2 years in between my third it seems to be the case, although in my second trimester now I seem smaller than my first so I think I had a lot of bloat and lost some water weight.
Hi Ladies,
It is called the 'warmed up' effect. The Mayo Clinic pregnancy guide compares it to a balloon. The first time you blow up a balloon it can be quite difficult, but the second time is a bit easier to blow up. It is unfortunately the same with our uterus. I am on my third at 10 weeks and I look the way I did with my first at 6 months. Unreal.
I wasn't in maternity clothes at all with my first and im not worried I just have a bunch of people telling me its going to be twins and I was wondering if anyone out there that had second singleton pregnancies also had this type of "expanding" lol just want to be able to tell everyone that its normal.
Sorry my phone is crazy. People is not supose to be there and drone was supose to be from. And that messed up part is supose to say "my eating habits havent changed and I have been having morning sickness. Also it isn't belly getting bigger." Sorry
I've been wearing maternity pants since around 9-10 weeks. This is my second and I actually had morning sickness so bad I lost 25 lbs and still had to wear maternity clothes because my regular pants were too tight around my waist. I would really worry about it :) the majority is probably just bloating and the rest is your body preparing for your soon to be growing uterus. It can be totally normal for a second pregnancy to start showing a little sooner than with the first. I wasn't in maternity clothes til 6 months with my son so it can deffinently vary from pregnancy to pregnancy.
