I've been spotting but I haven't had a real "period"

Hi there--
In February I started taking Microgestin Fe 1/20.  Before that, I had been taking a different monocyclic pill that was being discontinued by the manufacturer.  My period seemed normal during the first two packages I finished.  Last month on my 4th week when I was taking my placebo pills,  I experienced normal pre-period feeling with slight cramps and a very, very light period--more like spotting.  I waited a week and then took a pregnancy test--it was negative.  I continued taking my pills as normal, starting a new package once my previous one was finished.  Thursday, I started placebo pills and again this month I've had the normal pre-period feeling with cramps and I'm experiencing a very, very light period--more like spotting.  I took another pregnancy test and again, it's negative.  I should note that I have NOT missed any pills and I take them in a regular time frame each day.

I'm sort of puzzled.  Should I be worried?  I mean, I'm already worried. Has this happened to anyone else on Microgestin Fe 1/20?

Help!

I had a very heavy period in April. (I've never had one like this) It lasted about 8 days. Once it ended I spotted and had brown discharge in May and in June. I haven't had a period since April. I have not taken a pregnancy test because I have no symptoms. Every time I wipe there is a little bit of brown discharge. Can anyone help me? Thanks

I've taken two tests so far--one about a month ago and then one earlier this week and they both came back negative.  Today, I left a message with the nurse practictioner at the clinic and now I'm stuck waiting for her to call me back.

I don't know if my stress level has anything to do with this situation, either.

bc is notorious for messing up women's cycles and lighter periods is a classic side effect. the chances of you being pregnant are tiny, about 1%. if you are worried, just take a test, only takes a minute and i'm sure it will put your mind at ease. it's almost definitely the way the bc is affecting you.
