morning sickness back??!!

Hi ladies. Hope everyone is healthy and well. I have a question. Up until 20 weeks i had terrible hyperemesis and was hospitalized a few times for dehydration. It went away after that but now at 28 weeks it's back and once again i just got out of the hospital for dehydration, low magnesium, and palpitations from the low magnesium. Ugh im so frustrated and tired of feeling like poop. Anyone else going thru this?

Thank you. I had Zofran and Reglan for the first 20 weeks and it did help me to be able to eat and keep it down. They gave me a script for Zofran once again to take 4 times/day. It's awful. Baby girl is doing great thankfully. Thank you for your response.

I had hyperemesis through 22w.  During this time, I was prescribed 8mg of ondansetron (generic) to take every 8 hrs, then tapering off to 1/day over the course of ten weeks.  I had a small return at about 28w, but I had backup pills to take just in case it got bad again.  You and your ob should really talk about a prescription, if you haven't already.  Checking into the hospital twice for hyperemesis is a sign that the usual tricks (sea bands, constantly snacking, lemon water, ginger tea, etc.) isn't working.  You need to get back on track of healthy nutrition and hydration for your baby's development, and a simple prescription may be all that's needed.

(fyi - this drug was actually developed for cancer patients going through treatment, keeping the patients from vomiting and dehydration.  because of this, some prescrition benefit plans may not cover the costs of the pills for pregnancy related requests unless there's an extra effort by your ob to contact the presription company on your behalf.  Otherwise a supply of pills can be $60- $100 - it was worth it to me!)
