mother-in-law drama

We recently started buying items for the baby since we found out we're having a boy. But everytime my fience's side of the family buys something they always say its to keep at my mother in laws house. Now already with a carseat, bouncer, swing, highchair and not to mention tons of clothes, my fience and I went with his grandmother to a huge yardsale, she found this playpin still in the packaging box and said "oh this will be perfect for michelle(mother-in-law) and grabbed and bought it. Turns out it was fully equiped with a add on bassenet, changing table, mobil and diper storage bag. It makes me feel like shes the one having the baby. Yes she will be watching him when I return to work, but hes not living there. Its making my fience and I fuss and its not fair to him because he is in the middle. Am I being too sensitive?

Wow, I don't think your getting too sensitive at all! I would feel the same way. Yes, she will be helping to take care of baby once he\she is here but I do think maybe they (his family) is going a little overboard especially if you and fiancé don't have the resources to buy tons of clothes and supplies for baby. I'm not sure what kind of relationship you have with your mother-in-law but if you don't feel comfortable I would have your fiancé talk to her and come to an understanding. She WILL need things at her house but really she only needs the "basics" YOU guys need the bulk of the supplies as this is your baby and you two are not rich (i'm guessing :) ) Anyway, if you have a good relationship with her both you and hubby can sit down with her and hopefully come to an agreement. Good luck hun :)
