multiple children

Did you find it to be extremely difficult to go from one child to two? What changes did you have to make?

Oh and my kids are almost exactly 2 yrs apart.

My son is 11 months old and I'm due with my daughter the beginning of may. 14 months apart. Oh man. Glad I'm not the only one kinda scared lol

I never found it a big deal. Very easy transition for me.

My children are 10, 7 and 5 and this one is due in 25 days. It isn't really hard, it just takes more planning and organization. I am a little worried this time around as I'll be on my own for the first month or two, so I may need to do some juggling with dinner and bath time around feeds to get the others into bed on time! It can also be a worry thinking about the existing child feeling jealous or ignored but as long as you stay positive and get them involved as much as possible it is fine! I think it is probably much harder with an age gap of less than a year as they will both be more dependant on you.

Thank you for the responses ladies. Although I am not pregnant with #2 yet I'm already getting hassled for my decision to try. Its nice to hear its not as bad as everyone is making me feel.  My son is currently 6 months old.

My older kids are 18 months apart, it wasn't too bad of a transition. It was a challenge figuring out how to entertain my son while I was nursing my daughter but I figured it out. They always pooped at the same time though lol. I think baby #3 will be an easier adjustment since they're 6 and almost 8 and are really good at entertaining themselves and love to help take care of babies.

I was wondering the same thing. But my son will turn 5 before this one gets here so I'm hoping it won't be bad. Just starting over

Honestly this was my biggest fear, and I just had my 2nd child this week, we're doing great, no major changes at all, I was worried about my son feeling neglected, me being able to handle 2, lack of sleep, everything under the son, and it's been a breeze!! You'll find adjusting from 1 to 2 isn't that hard at all!

I am pregnant with my fourth child, and I always say going from 1 kid to 2 was the biggest change rather then the addition of the third. Not to sound scary, but it will feel like your work doubles or even triples. You will have to figure out a new bath time routine, bed time routine, how to juggle the kids at meals, when out shopping... etc. It does feel really overwhelming at first, but it all works itself out. Age of the older sibling plays a role too, older they are the less they constantly need your help. When my second was born my first was 18 months old.
