Places like babies r us give you 20% off the remaining items on your baby registry after your shower. I put everything I could think of on my first registry. I was glad because in the end all I got were clothes. Babies r us also gives you an extra 10% off if you open a credit card. We only used the card one time to get the combined 30% off than we canceled the card. Good luck :)

I registered at babies r us and i did it in the store and they gave me a list with almost everything you can think of on it and then they give me a little handheld scanner. I registered stuff from a dollar themometer to a $300 carseat, i registered like 50 things, i was having too much fun scanning stuff to really care how much was essential and what not, if i liked it and thought id use it then i scanned it. Only thing i didnt scan was clothes and blankets because i wont know what im having till march 1st.
You shouldnt feel afraid to have a baby shower most everyone loves babies and like to help out and buy stuff for them.
Register lots if diapers, wipes, shampoo, lotions, clothes, sippys and even more exspensive stuff like carseats, monitors and crib and stuff.

I'm just worried people will think I'm being selfish or picky :-(  I've never been to a baby shower either so I'm oh so scared of putting anything costing more than $30 on there lol I've put a bassinet, and a universal carseat stroller in the registry and thats it so far.... I want to actually go to the store and pick stuff out in person (i was told I can do that), but I'll have to wait until the weekend due to being on bedrest (booo).  I almost feel overwhelmed trying to rack my brain with what to ask people for without asking to much :-(

Anything helpful that you don't already have with the first born. Def diapers/wipes (since they go through that A LOT lol & even gift cards. Big items such as Crib, carseat, baby monitor, stroller etc to small things like washcloths, bath toys & other bath needs clothes, diaper rash treatment. Register to babies r us or target or any other places you can think of & have fun!!! :)

I would suggest the same as sehale. When we registered for our first, a lot of practical things like the crib and car seat were taken care of, as were a lot of the clothes (thank goodness for friends with older kids!). We registered for a bunch of stuff, mostly not the absolute essentials, but that were nice to have. Several gave us gift cards of a given amount and we pooled them to buy some bigger items like a co-sleeper (totally a luxury but it was helpful).

A friend of mine who didn't live here when we had our first wants to throw us a baby shower this time and I was able to convince her that a diaper party would be more appropriate - the format I know is that everyone brings diapers to the party and instead of worrying about games, etc, guests are given raffle tickets based on how many diapers they brought for gifts like bottles of wine, etc. It was fairly easy to speak with my friend but I'm not sure about mother-in-laws...

I'd put whatever you want/need on there. It's your shower. I'd put cheap and expensive things. You never know what someone will get you.

I don't think there's anything inappropriate just don't add formula because you don't know what kind baby will need
