Ha ur story sounds like mine... I jus keep saying last pack!
Thx u guys! Im gunna go pick up some carrot sticks nd mints after work..... Like a crap load of carrot sticks! Lol
I quit using dumb dumb lollipops. Every time you want a stoge, just pop one of those in your mouth. It helped me so much
I smoked on and off for years. When I found out I was pregnant, I had been smoking about a pack a day for 2 years give or take. I know that it was nearly as long as ten years, but maybe my experience can help you a little.
I set myself a goal. "I'm finishing this pack and that's it." ... Well I went out and bought another, thinking "OK, last pack." ... I smoked a couple of those until I had a revelation. I had to quit buying them, and I had to quit smoking them. NOW. So I took an almost full pack and threw it out the car window. I know it sounds extreme, but going cold turkey helped me. I just told myself that I couldn't smoke if I didn't buy them. Passing up the gas stations during cravings was REALLY hard, but all it really boiled down to was self control.
I feel that if you say one more or two more, you'll extend it longer or add more to it. It makes it harder to quit, IMO. I had a lot of stress, but I had to find other ways to manage it. I took walks, sat on my porch swing with a cup of decaf coffee, and got on this forum. :) It was hard, and I started smoking again when my daughter was about 3 weeks old. But you know what? From 5 weeks pregnant until 3 weeks post partum, I didn't smoke a single cigarette.
When she was about a year old, I decided enough was enough. I didn't want her growing up around cigarettes. I didn't want to die at a young age. So I quit again. Cold turky. It's been almost two years and I haven't slipped up once. I had no support in the way that I was the only one quitting. But I didn't lean on anyone else. Chance are if I had, I would start again if they slipped up.
Have you talked to your doctor about a mild antidepressant? While some are controversial, there are a few that are safe during pregnancy. And they are most definitely more safe than smoking. I really feel that your doctor would prescribe it to outweigh the risks of you smoking during your pregnancy. Smoking while pregnant can lead to SIDS, preterm labor, birth defects, etc...That was my primary motivation for quitting. Good luck!
You can do it!!!! :) so worth it for you and your baby :)

It's easier to trade a habit for another habit.. you get the urge, keep your hands and most importantly your mind busy. It's a 3 day physical addiction, the rest is all mental hun. Sometimes smokers have a mouth fixation. Theyre not so addicted to the niccotine but the putting things into your mouth thing (sounds weird I know lol) like how people will stick pens in their mouth while thinking when they're writing. It's the same concept. You could try eating something instead. I wish you the best of luck momma, I know you can do it you just gotta put your mind to it
Your doctor will be able to give you patches ect or what he thinks is suitable to help you. Also smokin sensation with a nurse weekly also might help you
Thx! I dnt want my baby to come out craving a cig.. tht thought is so disturbing to me.
Thts a good idea to i never thought of asking my doctor.
Wow! Thts awsome tht u guys had eachother! I have about 3left in my current pack nd im very nervous for the emotional part tht lies ahead but u r very inspirational to me. it helps to kno tht its been done before. Thank u so much
Im 8wks pregnant and I have quit finally I smoked with my 1st baby but due to having a bad experience it has given me the motivation to stop. I still find it hard my advise is you need to keep busy so your not concentrating on smoking also go to your doctor they may be able to help
Me! I smoked for about ten years also. When I found out I was pregnant I just said that's it not smoking after this pack! So when that pack was out I didn't pick up another cigarette. It also helped that my fiancé quit with me. That was back in August and now I want nothing to do with smoking. I believe it's all mind power
