newborn question

My daughter is constipated I know you can add some kero syrup to water to help but can I add a bit of regular sugar instead? If so how much?

Sometimes babies just strain and cry, trust me. I knew my gal was constipated as when she did do a bit it was little pebbles so I gave an ounce of water and changed her formula. She still only goes every other day but when she does its normal. Don't jump to conclusions as you can do more harm than good. My gal is 8 weeks old and still strains all day till she's red in the face

At 2 weeks I gave my daughter about an oz of Gerber prune juice. And an hour later she went.   Also for gas or if my daughter was colicky I used chamomile tea with her formula and worked wonders. And chamomile can't be that bad Cuz every store sells products for colic with chamomile.

I'd suggest speaking to your doc. People will suggest many things but it doesn't mean its safe. Good luck hope your baby feels better soob

my pediatrician told me to add a little miralax to the bottles. Just enough to barely cover the bottom of the miralax cap. My son had severe constipation that was accompanied with him screaming and crying cuz it hurt him so bad, and the miralax was a life saver! He is now two, almost three, and we still have to use it

She's passing gas just fine. Lol. And I say one day cause she went yesterday but it was really nothing just barely a poop. And the day before that nothing. I worry because she seems so uncomfortable. I hate it. :-(

I've actually read unless they haven't been for three days they don't count it as constipation she could just have trapped wind. There honestly is no need to give baby sugar..or fruit juice after one day of no.bowel movements. Even after one day I would suggest no need for water either actually.

Thanks guys I've giving her a tad bit of water hopefully she'll feel better I know it's,normal for them to go a few days without pooing but she cries when she's trying to go. That worries me I think if she doesn't go by tomorrow I'll call the dr. I'm so glad there are other mommies out there to talk to about this lol.

Changing formula can also.give them a bad belly. I personally wouldny give baby that young sugar. My doctor said some babies.can.go.without a poo.for four days. Id speak to your doctor hun. My daughter was prescribed lactulose which always works great but she was older. But they might give you that. There are many baby massages on YouTube that show you how to rub their bellies to.encourage the poop. Never stick anything up your babies bottom.(some people actually suggest this) just try a bit more water (only small ammoubt and only during constipation as babies don't need water until their closet to a year old) give your doc a ring for.advice or.make an appointment :) good luck xxx

How old is she? I really don't agree with giving sugar etc at all I've read its not.good especially in young babies. Have you tried stomach massage and a tiny bit of cooled boiler water to drink? And how long has she been constipated for?
