not normal

So I'm having what my midwives think are BH contracts; however they they don't act like anything any of the articles say they are. These this started four weeks ago and don't go away, They started off light and got closer together but didn't get stronger until the next week, where they jump further apart and throughout the week get closer together. The following week they did the same thing (jumped further apart, grown stronger and then got closer together). Every week it's the same thing.  You can time them and everything. They started out as uncomfortable, but now they are a little painful. I have tried everything to make them stop and nothing works.  I get the feeling that my Midwives don't believe me and it's getting to me. My mother is a raving lunatic because she's never heard of anything like this before.  Has anyone???

You are most likely in early labor (which can last for days). I wouldn't head to L&D just yet, though. Wait until they are more consistent and painful enough that you cannot talk/walk through them. Then have your husband or whoever call for you and take you to L&D.

I agree too - - You are due now, so definitely watch and time those contractions.  They can be a bit sporatic for a few days before, but I'll bet they become more consistent in the next few days.  good luck.

I agree with rdh. Plus as you get further along BH do become more uncomfortable. If you are timing them and they fall into a pattern that lasts over an hour or two you can call the midwife and let her know because that could be early labor.

I had bh all hours of the day and night for weeks before they became real contractions. They hurt just enough to wake me up at night and make me notice them. Another tell tale sign that it's BH is if you change positions or take a bath do they slow down or stop?

Well if your due date is August 5th, then this might be the real deal!!!!! I would continue to monitor them and if they get closer and harder go to L&D!!!!!

Good luck!!!!

How far along are you in the pregnancy?  It is very common for braxton hicks to occur for quite awhile before your're due.  They can also hurt just as much as regular contractions.
