my waters was a trickle when i was in labour as i had all baby, unless it broke in bath i haven't got a clue lol x
There is a LOT of water in a woman's amniotic sac...so yes, it CAN leak, but you will notice your panties getting wet constantly, especially when lying down (sometimes if you stand up the baby's head can act as a plug and stop the gush).
But if it's BROKEN...trust me you will notice. it is a LOT of liquid. I had my water broken with both of my babies and it's what feels like gallons...and with my son there was a LOT of blood too, but it's completely normal.
If there's a leak..yes you might not notice right away but you should notice your underwear continuously being soaked (try the pantyliner like alaysha suggested) - if you're afraid of this, you should definitely call your doctor...but a full-on break is impossible not to notice.
hope this helps :-)
My water never broke on its own, the hospital did it for me at 9 cm.
Your bloody show has nothing to do with your water breaking. Mine started the day before my daughter was born, and I knew as soon as I saw it she would be here within a few hours. It can be mixed in with your mucous plug, or it might be just bleeding on its own.
If your water breaks you will get the bloody show. If its leaking its possible you wont. If you are concerned you are leaking contact your doctor. It would feel like an abnormal amount of discharge and would be basically like water. Water and discharge have completely different looking textures. 99% of the time you would know. The best way to tell is to put on a pantyliner and see how long it takes to fill.
the only difference i know is that there shouldnt be an odor if its amniotic fluid and if its just urine itll smell like uring and otherwise smell like nothing but i must say i dont often smell my urine to know what that difference is haha
and i also have heard the whole hear a pop and then gush but i know not every woman gets that...i just am worried because i know at the end theres a lot of discharge so idk what signs to tell the difference because if it does break or start leaking i know i need to go in and then no intercourse because it could cause infection...and thats where im worried. ive had some inconsistant but strong contractions and my fience and i have been attempting to induce with intercourse and i dont want to hurt the baby...
The only thingbim afriad of is if it breaks while im using the bathroom or in the shower.
Its possible for it to get a tear in it and slowly leak which depending on how much it is can be hard to detect with everything going on down there. Having it actually rupture you'll know. With my first I was laying down, heard a pop and felt a gush of liquid. It would keep happening too because once its ruptured its ruptured. I wasn't in labor it even due for a couple weeks and went to the hospital because if your water breaks you need to deliver within 18 hours or risk infection. With my second it broke during labor and I felt it and again heard it. Most of the time it will be hard to miss. If you ever think you are leaking abnormally contact your doctor so they can test to see if you are leaking since its better safe than sorry.
