My son had chicken pox when I was pregnant.   I was fine and my ob wasn't concerned since so had chicken pox when I was ten Years old.  I bought calomine lotion and my son never scratched.  Calomine lotion dries very quickly and if you decide to use it use a cotten ball.

Thank you ladies for your input! !! I learned a lot from you ladies. :) I'm going to the doctor on Monday . I've been feeling unwell but im certain it's just pregnancy related., my daughter seems to be getting better. And I haven't developed any rash or anything so I'm hoping I'm good!

You can get shingles when you're under 40. My friend had it last year and was extremely sick. He was 20.

More than likely you will be okay! Rarely do people get chicken pox twice, it will could happen, but not likely. As for shingles if you do get them, they're going to pop up in just one in inconvenient place IF you do get them. My fiancé had it on him his back where he couldn't reach to put his ointment on, my mom had it on the back of her neck as far as your husband it's possible the same for him, IF one of you gets it and has to apply the ointment for the other I would suggest a glove bc shingles is highly c

In agreement with katyrb. You most likely will get shingles at some point in your life hopefully it's later then sooner also let your Dr know that you were re exposed to VZV. Best wishes hun

You won't get shingles, and if you did they wouldnt affect the baby. I don't think there's as much risk to your baby as you have already had chicken pox, but you should ask your doctor just to put your mind at ease.

I've never had chickenpox so I'm clueless!

My aunts deaf because when her mother was pregnant she was in contact with a child who had either chickenpox or measles- I'm not sure which but I'd agree with ladies above and go er x

Kayrb is correct. You cannot get shingles from chicken pox it only works the other way around. If someone has shingles and you've never had chickenpox you can get chickenpox from them. However chickenpox is an airborne virus while shingles is a contact virus

Chickenpox vaccines aren't 100% effective.....and I know many young people who have had shingles, even teenagers and people in their 20s. The chickenpox virus reemerges as shingles when your immune system is suppressed for some reason (stress, illness, etc). You can't "catch" shingles from anyone but you can get chicken pox from someone with shingles. I wrote a 30 page research paper on shingles for nursing school and my mom has battled reoccurring episodes for years.

Wow I'm really surprised she caught chicken pox since they have the shots BUT you can only catch shingles from ppl who have shingles & only when you're like over 40ish if you have had chicken pox. I work in a hospital that had a shingles outbreak & had to deal w this but they told me since im young I have nothing to worry about

You might just get chicken poxs again. You can have it more than once. Ive had it only once but my brother had it 5 times. And we were both vaccinated.lol

Actually, you can't get shingles from being exposed to someone with chickenpox. When you have chickenpox as a child part of the virus goes dormant in your nerves, and can reactivate decades later causing shingles. You can get chickenpox from shingles but not vis versa. In addition, it is thought that being exposed to chicken pox actually helps boost your immune system against getting shingles in the future. That being said....even though its uncommon you CAN get chicken pox twice if your immunity has dropped. It doesn't happen alot, but since you're pregnant I would definitely still see your doctor!

Yeah I know I've read it can cause birth defects:( and yes I ask heard you can't get the chickenpox twice..that it comes as shingles if it's reactivated. I just hope I don't get it.. somewhere online I read you can take this medicine after 10 days of exposure for pregnant females. :o idk what to do.. I migbt end up going t the hospital., I've been getting some weird pains on my belly like on,the sides. They're not cramps and I'm,scared

Yeah it was honestly the only thing that made me not itch. Anything to stop your little girl from scratching. I have a few scars from where I scratched. Thankfully they aren't too prominent.
As for the chances of you getting shingles, if you have any emergency weekend clinics I would try to see a Dr before Tuesday, just to be safe. From what I've read there is a risk to baby. Hope everything works out ok
