ovulation questions

ok, so this is a little embarassing but here goes...if im not pregnant then i should be starting my period on thursday...but i think i ovulated today? i felt like i was going to start my period and then i went to the bathroom and when i wiped it was just clear stringy discharge and a little bit of white in my undies (but not a  lot). So what im asking is whats the difference between regular discharge or pregnancy discharge from ovulation discharge? also i didnt think it made much sense to ovulate this close to my period because that wouldnt be a very big "fertile window"...would it? i really have never payed much attention to ovulation before now because we were not trying to get pregnant. so, is this just normal discharge or does it sound like i could be pregnant if this happens before your expected period? im super lost....i hope this all made sense! thanks

hmm well it was clear...deffinitly clear. if it was EWCM would that mean that im not pregnant? and if so why would i be ovulating so close to my period occurring?

I forgot to add that non-fertile CM is everything else--- cloudy, white, yellowish. It can also be gummy, tacky or shiny (shiny meaning you can see it on the TP but can't actually pick it up and stretch it). Non-fertile CM is not very stretchy either.

What happens in a typical cycle is that during ovulation the CM becomes clear and really stretchy (stretches to an inch or more when taken between two fingers and stretched out). When I say clear I mean clear (not cloudy, not yellowish, not white).

That is fertile CM. Also known as EWCM (egg white cervical mucous as it resembles raw egg whites).

After you ovulate you will become dry again for many days. But as your period nears you may begin to have a discharge again as the cervix softens to allow your uterus to thin out and slough off (aka your period).

However in early pregnancy many women find they have CM, even EWCM (I know I did the last few pregnancies!). But it's not a good indication of pregnancy since it can get confusing and you can have the CM before your period, too. Taking a test when your period is due is the best way to know for sure if you're pregnant.

Um... I Just found out today I'm pregnant with my second baby, but I don't think there is really a difference.  You just get a little more of the juices when your pregnant.  Don't really know why but I do??? Anyways  If your trying to get pregnant just be happy and have sex a few times a week right before you go to bed.  Just be happy and don't stress and you will get pregnant!!!  don't be discouraged sometimes it takes a while...:)  The more you don't stress out the better chance the lil men will have to survive.
