Okay one cup of coffee a day is fine! Your actually alloud 200 mg of caffeine a day!
I would honestly stop taking the oxycodone! It isn't good, but if you desperately need it, go ahead and take it. I myself have herniated discs (8 to be precise) and i'm pregnant with my 3rd kid. I've been living in pain for over 9 years, i'm allergic to all pain meds, so I can't even take them for the pain! However, I do have this lotion, that is a muscle relazer, kind of like icy-hot but it doesn't soak into your skin. I use this at night before bed, every night (doctor approved) and it works wonders on my back to relieve pain through the day! I would reccomend that, let me know if your interested I can tell you all the details about that. Where to get it, and name and all!
I can cause defects on the baby! And the reason they said you need to ween yourself off of it in the third trimester, is because if you happen to get the epideral, you can NOT have that in your system! Takes about a month to get out! Also, if you can just deal with the pain, since it's such a low dose, I'd just deal with it! I will message you about the lotion though. It's between $5 and $7...so well worth it!
By the way CONGRATS on the pregnancy!
Ashiepooh is mostly right (not trying to offend you with this ashie) . lol. however Oxycodone has NOT been shown to cause defects on babies as far as I know and I did some research online too.
It's either category B or c (I got sites that said both) and the REAL harm it could cause would be withdrawal, addiction and sedation in newborns is all.
That's why they'd wean you down in your last month of pregnancy. You can take it if you need it and you SHOULD if the pain is really bad. I know it's stronger than Vicoden, however I was on vicoden 5/500 every 4hrs for the last 5 months of my pregnancy and on occasion had to take 2 (every few times of taking it) and my son was born with NO withdrawal, NO addiction or anything. He didnt really even have any problems with sedation and I'd had some vicoden that day! (he was a month early)
LISTEN To your OBGYN. I had 3 of em, count them 3 tell me that opiates are reasonably safe during pregnancy and that the risk isn't with birth defects but with sedation and possibly withdrawal... my mom had almost blown a gasket when she found out til I took her to my appoinment (2 different doctors) and had them tell her.
my L5 is SEVERELY weakened due to scoliosis, arthritis and a fall down the stairs the day after bringing TJ home. They have me on Soma and Norco right now, however I've got to talk to the doctor in a week about putting me on something stronger because the norco don't cut it. and he only has me on soma 2x a day.... I HAVE a high tolerance to meds... any meds. AND Pain so I take 2 soma 3-4x a day and 2 norco every 6 hrs.
If I do come up pregnant I'll stop the soma's immediately (they take folic acid from your body)... But there are days I can't even hold my baby boy or pick him up. and it *****.
By the way... when I said I have a high tolerance I wasn't kidding. In the hospital I had my Csection at 4:44pm and the next morning about 8am or so WALKED the 3 huge hallways to the NICU to see my son!~ All they had me on at that point was Darvocet.
After they had to give me 2 100mg shots of Demerol, they changed me to the norco. The nurse SWORE that the demerol would knock me out.... but it didn't . I didn't even slur or get glassy eyed.
Do what it takes to care for yourself. your baby should be just fine.
