pain meds and pregancy questions

i need some advice.... well i did not know i was pregant and i started to take roxicodone, when i found out i wantd to stop, but i read that stopping is worse. I was not taking a large amount but enough to feel the side effects of not having them.... I have read that methadone is pretty safe, so i decided to take it while i go through the detox also i felt if i needed a pain reliver that methadone would be the better choice, i have bad back pain due to a car accident... so please help me, this is my first and i dont want to hurt or lose my baby.....

You NEED to talk to your doc about that. I DON'T think methadone is ok when you are pregnant.

I have a friend who just found out she is pregnant and shes addicted to percocet 30's. She asked her doctor what to do and they said quitting will hurt the baby since it will put too much stress on her body. They are having her go to get the methedone done though since even though it is not safe during pregnancy it is safer than taking the pills. The doctor is also cautioning her that there is a very increased chance of birth defects. I would contact your doctor and see what they think.

You should not stop or start any medication until you talk to your dr. They are the only ones who can tell you what is safe for you and not safe. Call your dr and ask to be seen as soon as possible, or ask to have the dr call you to discuss your pain meds.
