Diff between HB & Actualy Contractions.

So I've been having BHs and I'm 36 weeks now. Already 1cm dialted and my doctor told me to let her know when I have painful contractions. Latley when my tummy gets tight it's increasingly uncomfortable like a period cramp. Should I call? It just feels super tight. No other pains or mucus plug loss yet. Just feel like slight period cramps and tight muscles. Could they just be BH? What's the difference? I also have a high pain tolerance so it kind of worries me I won't know Early contractions.

I honestly didn't go to the hospital until 8 cm dilated and it went great because 4 hours later my son was born . I had contractions all night til the morning.

With my first I knew when I was Bing Braxton hicks contractions because I would time them. My stomach would get really hard and at about 30 seconds it would go down. And when I would have real contractions it would start off like a Braxton hicks. My stomach would get really hard and about 30 seconds later instead of going down, it got even more harder and tightend even more which made it uncomfortable but bearable. Also real contractions won't ease up once they start.

But also, you don't need to head straight to the hospital right when labor starts. It is best to wait until you are further into labor to check yourself in otherwise you might be more likely to end up in a c-section. Once the harder ones hit, there is no mistaking! Lol

It sounds like braxton hicks to me. One way to tell the difference is by taking a warm bath when you start getting them. Real labor won't stop due to changing activity where BH will. My BH have been super uncomfortable this time and I never even noticed them with my first. It worries me as well though because with both of my first two, my water broke before any other labor signs so I'm worried I might not recognize it if labor starts before my water breaks this time. :(
