pass out getting blood drawn

I'll be 10 weeks on Saturday, and I was just wondering how often do you ladies pass out when you get your blood drawn? I got mine done this morning and they took 3 viles and I got really light headed and dizzy and couldn't hear so I had to lay down :( ive had my blood drawn before no problem (besides being kinda scared) but nothing like today. i think part of it may have been anxiety induced? I psyched myself out really bad and I know I'm gonna have to get my blood drawn again, how do i not do that? kinda dumb question like "dont think about it" and I tried but I couldnt help it :(

I havent been tested for gestational diabeties, in the uk they only test if u put on too much weight or hav type 1 diabeties in a close blood relative. I also turned down the ds blood tests and other genetic blood tests (turns out i was too late for them anyway, i was 20w + 4d when i first saw my midwife!)

Yeah i have to test for gestational diabetes in two weeks and then again near the end, plus two more to test for down syndrome etc and then the doc said three more on top of that!! I'm better with getting a shot, but why do they need so much of my blood?!? i need it too! i actually just got done crying to my fiance bc whenever i think of getting it done my anxiety goes outta control and i freak out! ugh.

Omg this is why I love these forums! I am 13 weeks but when I was about 8 weeks they drew about 7 viles of blood and I passed out as well! I get anxiety and I am so scared to have blood drawn. I cried and told her I was gonna die. I HATE having blood taken! Around 20 weeks she told me I would have to have more drawn to test for justational diabetes and I dread that day

Yeah I made my mom go with me the other day and she yelled at me, didn't help the fact that I was ALREADY freaking out. But my fiance is going with me in two weeks. My anxiety is really bad right now thinking about it :(

im 11 weeks and they took 8 viles from me I felt dizzy and every time they were filling up a vile after like the third one my armbwould go numb and I felt quiezy but when she was switching viles it went away for that couple secs than they take more n it came back lol o have to go next week for them to take more and than two weeks after that I have to go again. I am really nervous lol

They always laugh when i say i need lie down so i dont pass out cos ive got tattoos and there not small ones but i say its not the needle im afraid of its the blood, i tell them to talk about anything but the blood and dont let me see it after!! My fear stems from my appendix operation when i was 15 when the canular flew out of my vein when a student doc didnt secure it properly resulting in blood everywhere!! The midwife is very good and understanding of this now, tho she laughs at me cos i hold my breath every time which makes my veins hide so she has to calm me down and make me breathe lol

Getting blood taken out of your hand hurt almost as bad as my tattoos. I'd stick with the arm lol

It hurts sooo much worse when taken out of your hand hun. I doubt they will but you can ask to make sure. I had someone go with me to get my blood done when I used to be in your situation.

Do any of you guys work yourselves up before hand? Bc i do and i dont know how not too. i have to go in two weeks again for a glucose test because im high risk for gestational diabetes (asian and diabetes on my dads side)

Im a wuss when it comes to having blood taken!! I have to lie down every time i have bloods to stop me from passing out!!

Thanks ladies! Is their any way they can take blood somewhere other then my arm? Like my hand or something? Because Id rather have them take it there then my arm :'(

They're always taking my blood :-( that feeling you got was your blood pressure dropping. Make sure you've eaten before your blood test. I made the mistake of being really hungry on one blood test I had and ended up with my face in a sick bowl, shaking, sweating, couldn't hear anything but a high pitched ringing, it really was awful. I got a hot chocolate afterward and felt better.

I'll be 17 weeks on Sat, so I've only had mine taken once so far but I was really light headed the whole time and passed out as soon as she was done. But I pass out really easy!! I psych myself out too, which doesn't help! I'm terrified of getting blood taken.

They take lots of blood during pregnancy lol ive never felt bad after though an im 22w an have had blood taking at three visits so far.if you didnt eat before you went,try eating next time.

Also, how many times do you need to get your blood drawn during pregnancy?
