perineal excercises

Have any of you tried doing these exercises? I'm scared to try it but if it will minimize tearing I'm all for trying it. It says to start after 34 weeks. Any advice?

Yes you can massage just the outside!! Make sure to massage the bottom rim of your vaginal opening!

Lol i know me too!!! Would it also work if you massaged the outside without sticking your fingers in the vagina? Lol.

No its not the same. Perineal exercises are when you massage the area between you vagina and you anus. I read you are supposed to insert two thumbs(preferably your partners) and massage it with oils. It says it prevents tearing. Im going to start as soon as I'm 34 weeks, couple days away! Thanks ashdub I will definitely take your advice.

Massage oils on the perineum. Helps prevent tearing. BELIEVE ME!! I had 46 stitches with baby 1 no oil massage and 0 stitches with baby 2 after doing the oils

I'm pretty sure perineal excersizes and kegels are the same thing right? Most people know them as kegels which is probably why you didn't get an answer quicker. They are pretty great. I started doing them when I was in my first trimester with my first and he was an easy 3 pushes and he was out. I also had very minimal tearing and i went back to normal (I actually think I may be tighter) down there sooner. There's not really a set in stone way to do them. I just do them randomly throughout the day. I was also told to try to hold them for 5-15 seconds at a time if that's possible for you. Hope I helped
