When pregnant with my first we had a french mastiff and a yorkshire terrier, both great with my son, shen we moved out i took my yorkie and my mum kept her mastiff. We rescued a american bulldog 6 months ago and shes been brilliant. Im now expecting again and have no worries over either of my dogs. My AB was heavily pregnant when we rescued her and let my one year old climb all over her the whole time. I couldnt ask for better pets! I wouldnt ever consider it unless they were really aggressive!

My doctor told me its actually better for a baby to be around cats and dogs when they are younger, because it makes it so they won't be allergic to them. She had me bring my daughter around a cat when she was a few months old, because of that.

I have a dog and I wouldn't imagine getting rid of him. He is so protective of me especially now that I am pregnant she doesn't let anyone he doesn't know come within 5 feet of me. And I imagine he will be super protective of my baby boy. He is super good with my niece who is 9 months old, and he has known her since she was a week old. So I don't think we will have a problem :) my Milo and my little  man will hopefully be best friends :)

I have two cats and three dogs, and I am a single mother. It is not the litter, it is toxoplasmosis that SOME cats may carry. I am also a veterinary technician and handle cats and litter throughout my entire pregnancy and baby was and is fine. Just wear gloves and cover your mouth with a shirt or mask when changing the litter and wash your hands well. You can have your cats tested for this as well, but cats that are indoors and don't come in contact with rodents most likely are not carriers. My dogs are great with the baby and my cats could care less about the baby.

Smart woman! My husband is deployed so there's no way he would be able to do anything about the cats litter box but that was very sneaky/clever of you!

I have 2 dogs a cat and a snake pets are fine but if you have a cat it would be good idea for you to let someone else clean the litter box lol my dog luna is all the time licking my belly which i think is cute cuz she never did that until i got pregnant i think she looking forward to the baby being here

I'm a ftm, due in 13 days and I have a large dog and a cat. I'm not getting rid of mine and I would never! You just have to let them get use to the baby, and monitor them closely when they are near your baby. Pets usually end up being protective over children :)

We had a dog and two cats then we found out car liter was bad to breathe in while your pregnant so we got rid if them then we we're definitely not gonna get rid of our dog and had no idea she was aggressive and extremely jealous of kids. I had my best friend come over and she brought her daughter and that's how we found she was like that so we immediately got rid of her even tho we love her very much. I'm not gonna take the chances of my dog snapping at my daughter. I'm just glad I found out before it was too late.

I had dogs throughout my pregnancy and when my son arrived they acted as if they were his and my body gaurd. They were amazing! I've never had cats but I want one super bad but my doctor said their poop is bad for pregnant women and that I should hold off until after my daughter comes.
