postnatal birth control

Hi all,
I am expecting another baby in April, and my youngest turns 1 in a week(wow that went by fast!)
I will have 4 children altogether when this one is born, 13, 12, 1, and newest. I want to go on some kind of birth control that wont have long lasting effects if I decide again to have another. I am unable to take the pill. I have read some negative things on the shots and on the rings. I had an IUD in for 6 years in between my oldest children, but wanted to avoid that route again. Any suggestions?
I just want to be prepared, and avoid another pregnancy so soon.
Thank you in advance for any advice you may have.

Thank you for the info.
I am not sure about the pill, When I was younger I tried multiple different kinds and they all made me incredibly ill. I guess it wouldnt hurt for my dr to look in my files and see what they all had in common.
Thanks again :)

You definitely do not want to go on the shot if you are looking for something that is not long lasting. Been there done that, and it can take a long time to get out of your system.

I only tried the ring for two months. I bled the entire time I was on it!

When you say you cannot take the pill are you referring to combination pills or all pills? I cannot take combination pills (pills with both estrogen & progesterone), but I can take the mini pill (progesterone only pill). The estrogen in combination pills makes me very sick (even the low dose ones).

If the estrogen in the combination pills is why you can't take them, then the mini pill may be an option for you.

Oh, and the mini pill does not interfere with breastfeeding (if you plan to do that).

There is also a birth control patch. I've never tried this one, but it may be an option for you as well. I believe it has both estrogen & progesterone in it, but I'm not a 100% sure.

Hope this helps!!
